GameStop short seller targets Palantir

“There’s never been a company that has that type of multiple or that type of P/E that’s not corrected 50%,” Citron Research’s Andrew Left said.

Short seller Andrew Left, of Citron Research, spotlighted Palantir’sPLTR $181.35 (-1.83%) seemingly absurd valuation in a television appearance Wednesday, suggesting that the retail momentum favorite — the best-performing stock in the S&P 500 this year — could be set up for a serious stumble.

“If this was the greatest company that was ever created and we gave it the same multiples as, let’s say, Nvidia in 2023, the stock still can get cut by two-thirds,” Left said during an appearance on Fox Business, adding that he is shorting the defense data and AI software company as part of a diversified portfolio.

Left is perhaps best known for being one of the short sellers whose bets against GameStopGME $22.85 (-0.54%) made him a handy foil for individual traders who rallied around the video game retailer’s shares back in 2021.

His issue with Palantir largely comes down to the company’s market valuation, which we — and many others — have previously spotlighted as downright absurd, dwarfing even the most optimistic valuations ever placed on tech giants, even those that actually became some of the greatest money machines in the history of capitalism.

But Palantir’s market multiples have only seemed to get more absurd, especially after it delivered a great Q2 earnings report earlier this month that received rave reviews from analysts. full story

Carroll-Area Dogs Can Make A Splash Sunday At Animal Rescue's 2025 Doggie Dip

As the summer break draws to a close, the Animal Rescue of Carroll (ARC), in partnership with the Carroll Aquatic Center, is offering local dog owners an opportunity for their pets to play in the pool this weekend. ARC Director Jessica Briggs says their annual Doggie Dip is always popular, and she expects another crowd this year. The 2025 ARC Doggie Dip will be held on Sunday, Aug. 17, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The entry fee is $10 per dog or $15 for two dogs, which is a slight increase from last year to account for rising expenses at the shelter. Participation is as easy as showing up with your pooch and paying the admission fee. However, Briggs asks owners to consider how their dog may interact with others before bringing them. Briggs says the money generated from fundraisers like this generally supports operational expenses, but they have a specific idea in mind for 2025’s Doggie Dip. Again, the Animal Rescue of Carroll’s Doggie Dip is this Sunday from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Carroll Aquatic Center.

💧 Residents in Odebolt that reside east of Willow Street have been placed in a boil advisory until further notice. While replacing a hydrant in town, the system lost pressure, resulting in some citizens experiencing little to no water. Every city resident east of Willow Street is asked to boil water for at least one minute if planned to be used for cooking, consumption purposes or making ice, or to use bottled water as an alternative. Using city water for general cleaning and showering is still safe. The order will be in effect until samples have returned free from bacteria, which can take up to 48 hours. Anyone with questions is asked to contact city hall by calling 712-668-2231.
